About

Born in 1983 in Fukuoka, Japan, Kenji Makizono studied video and new media in Tokyo. In 2011, he decided to return his hometown Fukuoka then started to work on his art practice. He had participated in various residency programs in Asia such as Bangladesh, Malaysia, Korea and Taiwan.
As Makizono works on video and media arts, his current interest is to question how the electricity come from. He explores this ongoing project collaborating with related people. The artist is also a committee member of alternative spaces such as artist-run-space and art festival in Fukuoka besides his own art activity.
